Katt Williams Honored with Street Naming in Avondale

In a heartfelt tribute to one of Cincinnati’s most iconic figures, comedian Katt Williams was honored with a street naming ceremony on Saturday, April 19, 2025. The intersection of Maple Avenue and Reading Road in Avondale, where Williams spent his early childhood, has been officially designated as Katt Williams Way.

The ceremony was a star-studded affair, with fellow comedians and community members gathering to celebrate Williams’ contributions to comedy and his deep-rooted connection to the city. Cincinnati Vice Mayor Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney introduced Williams during the event, highlighting his impact on both the entertainment industry and the local community.

Williams, born in Cincinnati and raised in Dayton, has often expressed his pride in his Ohio roots. He has credited his upbringing in the state for fostering a unique sense of unity and appreciation for diversity. “Just being from Ohio gives you a whole experience that’s different from the rest of the United States,” Williams has said. “I know for me, just growing up in a place where one neighbor was black and one neighbor was white, racism just wasn’t where we were at. We appreciated both sides of things.”

The street renaming is part of a broader initiative by Cincinnati to honor its influential residents. Recently, streets have been renamed to celebrate local legends such as boxing coach Michael Stafford and musicians Bootsy Collins, Otis Williams, and Philip Paul. As Williams continues his “Dark Matter Tour,” the street naming serves as a reminder of the lasting impact he has had on his hometown and the world of comedy. Katt Williams Way stands as a testament to his legacy and the community that helped shape him
