Atlanta rapper Young Jeezy was arrested after police found an assault rifle on his tour bus, reports the Los Angeles Times. The assault rifle may have a connection the murder of 38-year-old Eric Johnson, a promoter who was shot and killed backstage at a tour stop at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Silicon Valley on the Under the Influence of Music tour featuring Wiz Khalifa and Jeezy.
Born Jay Jenkins, it’s believed that Jeezy, who has been arrested several times before for various offenses, may be connected in some way to the shooting. Tipsters led them to Jeezy, performing in Irvine, California and a search of his tour bus netted what is believed to be assault weapons.
Jeezy, 36, and five people — Kena Marshall, 39; Peter Maynard, 38; David Kuniansky-Altman, 31; William Gilmore, 48; and Alexa Beason, 46 were taken into custody on weapons charges, but were not arrested in connection with the fatal shooting, a police spokesman told the Times.

Johnson’s shooter was originally identified as a man in his 20’s about 5’6 wearing a Black baseball cap. Concertgoers are screened for weapons at the tour stops, so it’s possible that someone in an artist’s entourage could have brought a gun backstage.
Wiz Khalifa is headlining the tour that includes Rich Homie Quan, DJ Drama, Sage the Gemini,Ty Dolla $ign, Mack Wilds, and Iamsu!
Jeezy is expected to release his latest album, Seen It All, on September 2.
